The Bartered Bride

Dates & times

Kentish Opera Present The Bartered Bride.

Smetana's comic opera with its potent blend of Bohemian dances, heartfelt melodies and flamboyant Czech spirit is arguably the most popular Czech opera ever composed. It is full of colourful folk dances, a hilarious circus scene, and light-hearted rustic fun.
It features one of the most famous overtures of all time. The plot tells how, after a late surprise revelation and a twist worthy of Gilbert and Sullivan, true love prevails over the combined efforts of ambitious parents and a scheming marriage broker.
This sparkling new production is traditionally staged, sung in English with professional soloists and orchestra.
