Lancaster Aston Martin Sevenoaks is set to hold a prestigious invitation-only premiere of the latest James Bond film, Skyfall, and a champagne reception, which will be hosted at the Stag Community Arts Centre
The third James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig, Skyfall, will be released in the UK in October this year. Lancaster Aston Martin Sevenoaks will celebrate the historic relationship between a very British secret agent and a very British car maker by hosting an invitation-only premiere and champagne reception at the Stag Community Arts Centre on Saturday October 27 2012.
Suited, suave and sophisticated, James Bond is the fictional British character as much known internationally for his rapier wit and irresistible charm as he is for his gadgets, fast cars and knack for saving the world. He first appeared in 1953 in the pages of Ian Fleming’s novel Casino Royale as a secret government agent used as a “blunt instrument” and based on the commandos and special forces’ personnel Fleming had met during the Second World War. Fleming penned twelve novels and two collections of short stories featuring Bond.
Adaptation for the silver screen began in 1962 with the release of Dr No, starring Sean Connery. The franchise – and its famous 007 moniker - has gone on to become one of the most instantly-recognised brands in cinema history. It is also one of the most commercially successful big screen series, second only to the Harry Potter films. Skyfall, due October 26, will be the 23rd Bond film released.
Aston Martin, the luxury car marque, is as quintessentially British as cream teas and the Queen. The first Aston Martin was made in 1908 and the company enjoys an enviable reputation for producing some of the world’s most desirable cars, including the ultra exclusive One-77.
The car maker has been linked with the James Bond series ever since the appearance of the gadget-laden Aston Martin DB5 (with revolving number plates and pop-out machine guns) in 1964’s Goldfinger. The proud tradition has continued in recent years, with both the classic DB5 and the powerful new DBS appearing in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, the rebooted, gritty Bond films to star Daniel Craig.
The premiere of Skyfall at the Stag in Sevenoaks is the only authorised Aston Martin Bond event in Kent.
“We are exceptionally pleased to be able to provide the facilities and service a top-quality brand like Aston Martin demands,” says Andrew Eyre, General Manager at the Stag. “We set up a dedicated team to follow through on the questions Lancaster Aston Martin Sevenoaks set - and answered them. This partnership is particularly special because it means that two Sevenoaks companies are working together in Sevenoaks to provide top quality entertainment, helping to boost the local economy and retain business in the town. We are very pleased to be a part of it.”
“Our James Bond private screenings have become something of a tradition,” says Alistair Sommerville, Sales Manager at Lancaster Aston Martin Sevenoaks. “We ran successful events, really enjoyed by our clients, on the release of Casino Royale in 2006 and Quantum of Solance in 2008. We are excited to be able to offer this again for Skyfall, and for the first time in partnership with the Stag Community Arts Cemtre, which we are confident will make this the best screening we have held yet.”
