The ever-popular week-long summer film courses for young people, run by SYT (the Stag Youth Theatre) have been expanded to three weeks for the first time. The film made in the week will be premiered on the big screen at the Stag cinema in October. The 20 places on the course starting July 30 are expected to sell out quickly

SYT’s ever-popular film courses return to the Stag this summer, giving budding film makers the opportunity to star in their very own feature film. The original two week-long courses have both sold out, prompting the producers to add a third week for the first time. The course will run from July 30 to August 3, and just as with the other two weeks, will boast a film premiere on Oct 14 at the Stag cinema.

Up to 20 participants per week will learn about all aspects of film production, both in front of and behind the cameras. In five days, a group of young people will write and shoot a 30 minute feature film. The cinema at the Stag usually shows latest-release blockbusters, making the screening of their own film all the more special for the young people involved.

To watch some of the films made on previous courses and to find out more, visit www.stagyouththeatre.com. Places on the course may be booked by contacting the Stag Box Office directly by phone (07132 450 175) or by booking online (www.stagsevenoaks.co.uk).

“The Stag is a charity and one of our principal goals is to engage the community in the arts through educational activity,” comments Andrew Eyre, General Manager at the Stag. “The Stag Youth Theatre offers young people a thorough and comprehensive grounding in performing arts which even professional drama schools should aim to match.”

“The Stag Youth Theatre is unique in benefitting from the extraordinary professionalism of both Jamie Alexander Wilson and Simon Cossons, who are also responsible for creating the professional pantomime at the Stag each Christmas,” says Ross Ringham, Marketing Manager at the Stag.
