Yesterday’s Arts and Crafts Fair, which took place at the Plaza Suite, Stag Community Arts Centre, continued to demonstrate the Stag’s increasing footfall. Attendance was up year on year for both this show and the Spring show, which took place in March

Brimful of locally-produced, hand-crafted gifts, the Sevenoaks Arts and Crafts fair returned to the Plaza Suite, at the Stag Community Arts Centre, yesterday. There were 22 local artists and artisans showing off their wares from 10am to 3pm, and they were heartened by increasing footfall. The Summer Arts and Crafts Fair welcomed an increased year-on-year visitor attendance of 78%, while the Spring event was up by 5%.

Among the stalls of returning exhibitors were refurbished furniture with a distressed twist, glass jewellery, drawstring bags and satchels made from “pre-loved” recycled or repurposed materials, coasters formed from melted glass, contemporary photography and prints, lino prints, vintage bunting, homemade flavoured cheeses, handmade soaps, cupcake bouquets and glazed clay gifts.

Entry as always was completely free and refreshments were available will be available.

  • Free admission for all
  • Displays and gifts were available to take away from 22 local artists and artisans
  • Original and printed art, cards, jewellery and ceramics – not to mention scrumptious cakes and cheeses (which you might be tempted to keep for yourself!)

“The Arts and Crafts Fair is always a specular event which reflects the depth and breadth of local artistry that we have here in Sevenoaks,” comments Andrew Eyre, General Manager at the Stag. “These small, boutique businesses receive a real boost from exhibiting at the Fair, especially in these tough times.”

The Arts and Crafts Fairs are run three times a year at the Stag, in March, June and November. Exhibitor space for the November 2012 show is already fully-booked, though crafts businesses are invited to join the waiting list. The November show, which will be just in time for that perfect Christmas gift, promises to be even bigger and better than before. Watch this space!
