Comedians Terry Alderton, Stephen K Amos and Russell Kane will headline this summer’s Outside the Box comedy club at the Stag Community Arts Centre. Once again, the best place to be in the South-East for comedy this summer is the Stag

Outside the Box comedy club continues to draw big names from the British comedy scene to the stage at the Stag Community Arts Centre. Comedic stars Terry Alderton, Stephen K Amos and Russell Kane join the list of celebrity jokers who have returned time and again to tread the boards at the Stag Community Arts Centre.

Stephen K Amos is one of the nation’s most-loved comedians. Of Nigerian descent, he is currently the host of BBC Radio 4’s Life: An Idiot’s Guide. He has performed for royalty, is a regular on the international comedy circuit and regularly writes new comedy shows.

Stephen returns to the Stag after having performed at the venue last summer.

Terry Alderton never seems to be off our screens. He has performed, among many other appearances, on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Sky 1’s The Match, numerous BBC shows including A Question of Sport, Channel 5’s The Comedy Store, The Jonathan Ross Show and his own Capital FM radio show.

Not just a comedian, Terry has acted in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and numerous TV shows (including Holby City, The Bill, London’s Burning and Waking the Dead).

The Sunday Times calls him “masterful”, McIntyre calls him “sensational” and Frank Skinner says Terry’s is “one of the best live shows I’ve seen”. Terry, too, has appeared previously at the Stag as part of the line-up for last year’s St George’s Day Gala.

If you don’t know who Russell Kane is, you must have been living under a rock for the past few years. Quite literally the most energetic comedian working the circuit today, his rocket-fuelled performances can be seen on countless TV screens and festival appearances. He won the Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2010, having been nominated the year before, and the Barry Award for Comedy last year. He co-presented the 2012 series Britain Unzipped with Radio 1 DJ Greg James, as well as hosting numerous other TV shows both in the UK and the US. He is also a published novelist.

The Guardian was gushing of his 2011 material: “Pyrotechnically funny…a human whirligig…honesty, concern and freshness of thought…really exciting…very good stand-up”.

Russell is also no stranger to the Stag, after popping in as last-minute headliner for April’s Outside the Box and a performance last here last year.

Outside the Box regularly welcomes the biggest, funniest and most famous faces to the Stag in Sevenoaks. In April, Milton Jones headlined the club alongside Russell Kane; Greg Davies appeared in March. And resident host Maff Brown, creator of Outside the Box, is no stranger to the stage himself. Besides his own stand-up routines, performed not just in London but recently in Edinburgh and New York too, he has worked for ITV and Sky, has written for Omid Djalili and is currently writing for a new comedy show on Radio 4. He has been hailed as “brilliant stand up” by Bill Bailey, and Frank Skinner said of him, “jokes fall out of him like gold coins coming out of a pirate’s chest”.
