On Saturday June 9, a charity Zumbathon morning at the Stag Community Arts Centre raised £300, much-needed funds which will be donated to the Stag

We’re pleased to announce that the charity Zumbathon held at the Stag Community Arts Centre on Saturday June 9 raised £300 for the Stag, a registered charity. The event welcomed participants of all ages and abilities. In addition to sponsored dancers, individual visitors also danced on the day by making a special donation of £5 each.

Zumba features exotic rhythms set to Latin and international beats. Before participants are even aware of it, they’re getting fit and their energy levels are soaring. What’s more, it’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating.

The two-hour fundraising session included a gentle, low impact session suitable for beginners, and was led by Creative Director at Elysium Dance, Pip Daffurn. Elysium is an exciting collection of experienced teachers and dancers who perform within the events and wedding industries alongside providing dance and fitness classes to local communities. The company holds classes across Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells, London and Brighton.

The two classes hosted - Zumba Fitness (suitable for everyone) and Zumba Gold (a low impact class, specifically designed for those with reduced mobility or advanced years) - doubled as a taster session for a weekly Zumba morning at the Stag which will launch on Thursday June 28.

“The enthusiasm and verve of Zumba dancing is another excellent addition to the entertainment offered at the Stag. It is a fantastically fun way to keep fit and meet people. I am really pleased that Elysium Dance is at the Stag providing this dance and fitness opportunity,” comments Andrew Eyre, General Manager at the Stag.

The day was the second of the cinema’s Stag Little Saturdays too, featuring a 10.30am screening of a classic kid’s film to which parents go free. The popular animated film The Land Before Time was shown which proved popular with kids and adults alike. Profits from tickets for Stag Little Saturdays are also donated to the Stag.
